Phillip Karl's Story
Life
What is there to say. I have lived in 6 different countries and I have either sang or visited 20 different countries. Currently I live in Prague, Czech Republic. These days I am a Bluesinger and Writer and I am currently writing my first book "From Compton To Prague & Beyond". I guess typical education wasn't for me because I never liked going to school. Now I read around 2 to 3 hours on various subjects. I have been reading and researching the "War On Terrorism" and I am reaching the conclusion that it is the beginning of end of the Nation State & Organzied Religon as we know it in 2004.
I have a nine year old daughter named Simone that lives in Enidhoven, The Netherlands with her mother. Currently I live with a 31 year old Russian woman named Irina and she takes very good care of me. She bugs me all the time about getting married and having children but I think I am too old for all of this but we will see what happens "Smile". Me and Irina have a daughter that was born on December 14, 2005 and her name is JoannaMaria
I have my own Record Company for my music
and i dont seek to get rich and be famous I just want to be able to sing for another 30 years and that would be very interesting. Soon I go on tour to Finland,Estonia, Lativa & Russia to sing the blues. Looking forward to singing the blues in Moscow & Saint Petersburg Russia. I can only say life is good.
Latest news is the Big Boss wants to have one more child so I better give her what she wants I guess. It just seems the older I get the more I look forward to even getting older. maybe I am nuts but I like this feeling and I have more wisdom each year as long as I dont complain or dream of doing the things I used to do when I was young. To me such thinking is wasted energy.
Workplace
It has been said that in the last 30 years the blues tradition has been pillaged and burglarized by many different marauding armies from the commercial world. To the lover of the authentic blues, todayÂs Blues-Rock and Guitar Driven Power Blues seems as sensible as...Expand for more
a childÂs passion for chewing gum would to M. Escoffier. In Cleanhead Phil Speat resides the real thing. He is an original article. He is one of the few people left that can shout the blues in Kansas City Style. Blessed like Big Joe Turner & Jimmy Rushing with an arsenal of vowel sounds and glottal shocks which you can nearly reach out and touch. Moreover Cleanhead PhilÂs range is perfectly suited to the nature of his material, and that material is perfectly adequate to express the essence of his personality. Plainly speaking Cleanhead Phil Speat like the masters of the Kansas City Style of blues singing Big Joe Turner & Jimmy Rushing has found a way, no doubt by pure instinct, of doing what every creative artist ought to do but few ever manage, he has contrived an ideal marriage of the blues from and content. He is almost the last of a long and honorable that includes Big Joe Turner, Jimmy Rushing, Jimmy Witherspoon, Big Mama Thornton, Victoria Spivey, Jay McShann, Alberta Hunter & of course Bessie Smith. Like those who came before him Cleanhead Phil Speat represents a priceless tradition of Art, called the Kansas City Style Blues, which is all but extinct. This art is a dying art, and therefore doubly demands our scrutiny because Blues singing of this type has always been one of the glories of the Blues, we would be a parcel of fools not to revel in it for as long a we can. In these modern times where the true blues are almost a distant memory Cleanhead Phil Speat gives testament that those Rippin, Rompin, Riffin & Stompin days of Kansas City are in good hands and still alive! This man born in Compton, California has sang the blues in USA, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Belgium, France, Poland, Germany, Serbia, Slovakia, Austria and Czech Republic since arriving to Europe in 1994. In June 2002 he released his first CD recording ÂCrackers In My Soup on label Momma Jo Records. Most definitely a man that will be singing the blues for another 35 years. New CD is under works and will be released in near future.
